this is my second one. the first was 14 years old and needed too much to repair so i bought another one on 05 up till 2 years ago it was great. 25 below zero would heat the whole 1700 square foot house. two years ago went through 2 catalysts 1 damper door and three spoons. last night 15 below zero the flapper broke and the holder for the catalyst fell through and the middle shelf cracked. burning ...Overall Performance:

I am a very new user, months. So far, I love it. I am still figuring everything out. I got this as a hand-me-down. I Lost the thermometer in the move and I was looking for the help of a more experienced burner. Got my stove in 2000. On my 3rd Cat. the second one was bad from the supplier. They made it right. I have a question about damper. When stove is hot and need to add wood the damper is hard to open, it's like that bar is warped. If any one can help me with this problem I would appreciate the help. What I need to do? The first year we ran this stove it was a complete disaster. Back puffing and it almost required running with the ash door open. We replaced the gaskets and sealed the glass on the door and it mitigated most of the back puffing. LOVE this stove. It heats our little home great and once you know how to work it, which isn't hard at all then you won't have any of the issues people cited. Those are all owner operator error. The manual is very good and describes all you need to have for this stove. Ours has been working great for 8 years now! Looking at getting another one.Overall Performance:

Last night damper let loose and now i'll see just how easy this will be repair. I'll let you know how this goes. But otherwise I have been very happy with the stove i'ts done all my salesman told me it would and more. I'm heating aprox 1500 sq ft and best part our gas furnace hardly runs. i cut my own wood and the 2461 cut my usage from 20 to 25 ricks / year to 5 or 6 ricks. I have used this stove over 25 years and it has been great.Overall Performance:

We've been using the 2461(large) stove for 18 years. Use it mostly on Dec.25th,Jan, and Feb. Changed the catalytic converter. I now want to sell it because, at 75, I no longer want to get wood around. It has a square side door with a air controll and an air controll in the as door. Have had this stove for 12 years. Salesman said it was a real workhorse and he was right. Will effectively heat a well insulated 2000+ square foot home for about a 6 hour burn time. Have replaced catalyst twice. Anyone reporting problems with this stove wasn't burning well seasoned wood or needed to maintain the catalyst. Great stove and in use for over 5 years. Get a Vogelzang type stove themometer from any hardware store to monitor temp levels. Catalytic converter works best at 500+ degrees and burns less wood on this setting. Plan on replacing the door seal in about 2 years (cheap from hardware store). I have been using the Duchwest "large" for about three weeks. Very satisfactory so far. It is clean, provides lots of heat, fire lasts over night with enough coals left to quickly restart the fire.
